We think we have the best employees in the industry, so we are going to shine a spotlight on them from time to time. This month it is Michele Abed, our Purchasing Facilitator. We asked her to share a little about herself.
"While I have been at Carow Packaging for 8 years, I have been involved in customer service and operations for over 20 years. The focus of my role as Purchasing Facilitator here is to work with the operations team and suppliers to purchase packaging products for specific customers and for us to stock in inventory.
I like to joke that my job is kind of like working for the airlines. I coordinate inbound shipments with our freight forwarders all day and there are frequent schedule changes and missed bookings that require re-routing. We do whatever it takes to get the shipments here, so we can get the product in the hands of our customers as soon as possible.
Although it seems like a lot of logistical work, what I like most about my job is communicating and developing relationships with our suppliers from around the world, our warehouse staff, and with our freight forwarder.
On a personal note, the people at Carow have become like my second family and I enjoy working with them so much. But most of them don’t know that I have a strong passion for music! I actually won a talent show for singing when I was in elementary school.
I was also a child equestrian, and owned hunter/jumper horses that I showed all over the country.
When I am not at work, I spend time with family (mostly my three grandchildren), I attend Nascar Races, and I love live music events."
Michele adds a tremendous amount of value to our company. Thanks for all that you do to ensure our customers get the products they need as quickly and efficiently as possible.
